TraumaTip is an emerging field trauma ecosystem built for environments where conventional medicine fails. Development is ongoing. It advances the philosophy of the original MASH systems into a new technological epoch — a practical foundation for MASH V2, designed for global deployment in remote, austere, and frontier environments — including domains beyond conventional terrestrial infrastructure. It also create an integrated timeline for each patient incorporating surgical interventions, radiology, and other modalities so that in the future (for the patient) a retrospective and accurate record, since injury, can be viewed.

Update: July 2025 - Dr R Bruce Backman continues development of this digital medical device ecosystem. Many years of research and development have resulted in a handheld prototype. Anchored in the need for early intervention surgical planning in remote, regional, and combat scenarios, TraumaTip will facilitate, through the use of 20 “core” apps onboard the device, functions which will follow the patient from the time and place of injury to GP review after long term treatment.

Currently, after a period of development visiting at Dalhousie University and the Halifax Infirmary, Dr Backman is developing the two remaining core apps, the Starlink connectivity module, and the Apple VisionOS-based environment.

These two technologies complete the broad and diverse range of technologies required to commercialise TraumaTip. After over 25 years development, 2026 will be a pivotal year. Currently a private funded venture, venture capitalist investment will be entertained in early to mid 2027.

Update: January 2026 - This New Year brings a heightened sense of excitement among the TraumaTip team. With the delivery of the Apple Vision Pro development environment in December 2025 much work has been completed on the migration of the vast TraumaTip 3D repository into the AVP-based collection of TraumaTip apps. These individual apps will form the cornerstone of the TraumaTip digital ecosystem.

Core TraumaTip USDZ-based models are being tested by TraumaTip team members in the Toronto office.

Current satellite communications and networking development continue to enable the individual TraumaTip devices easy and effective access to the Starlink(R) network.

The Starlink Mini development environment continues its field testing in the harsh conditions of the summertime heat in South Australia. This mini-based environment will form the TraumaTip Lifeline Field network.

Please check back for updates.

Sincerely, Dr Ronald Bruce Backman -Founder
